Five for Friday

Hi Everyone!  Kristin here for a Five for Friday post!  Thanks to Kacey at Doodle Bugs Teaching for hosting it.  Being the one in our blog duo who is always thinking in themes, the theme for today's post is...You Know the End of the Year is Near When...!

You know the end of the year is near when...meetings go long after school hours!  But that's a great thing for me because it meant that due to a late meeting for Lindsey and because her hubs had to go to work, that I got to babysit the grandbabies in my office for a little while until the meeting was over! What a fabulous weekday evening treat!

You know the end of the year is near when...the assessments come out!  Here I am assessing phonetic elements with some of the kiddos in my intervention groups. (She's giving you the thumbs up, because this sweet little girl aced her test!)  But you know what? I joyously look forward to THESE assessments every year because when we're up to our ears in assessments, the end is near my friend! You can relate, I bet!

You know the end of the year is near when...one of the fabulous office ladies brings this deliciousness to school for your team!  Creamy, delicious, decadent Coconut Cream Cake!  Oh yeah, that's right! One bite and this girl was in heaven for the rest of the week!

You know the end of the year is near when...you walk down the hallway and begin to see empty bulletin boards in classrooms!  Yep!  That's a definite sign that the end of school is near. (This is fabulous Aliya's classroom by the way.  Her first grade classroom is adorbs!!!)

AND FINALLY....You know the end of the year is near when....you and your team...the support staff team...begin work on the Whole.School.Schedule for the following year.  It's a bit of a challenge and super tricky with all of the plan times, core times, ELL times, reading intervention times, math intervention times, and paraeducator support for every grade level.  Eek!  Bring on the Excedrin and the Starbucks!  It takes about a week or more to finish, but it always works out somehow and most years we seem to get it done before the end of the year.  Here is our first section.  When we are finished, it will be four times as wide and take up most of a whole wall.  I think we accomplished a lot this first day?? But oh those pesky empty spots.....Fingers crossed... (Side note to those of you who work at our school....this is in no way the finished schedule, so no panicking ok?)

So there you go!  All the major signs that the end of the school year is near!  5 more days for us...well 6 really, but who's counting today!  After all, we already got up (that was difficult) and got rolling, so I say...no counting today!  Besides....you may be reading this in the evening, which means today is already over...so I'm definitely going with 5 days left! Ha!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Smiles,
Kristin
